Spiritual Healing
My spiritual healing began the day I lost custody of my only child. I didn’t know it, though. I felt broken in so many ways, I wanted to die. But when you are open to the whispers of Spirit, spiritual healing becomes possible. I have written a memoir, Following the Whispers which reveals that journey to spiritual healing.
My spiritual healing story began when I first heard the whispers of Spirit when I was a small child lighting Chanukah candles. My parents were agnostic and mocked my desire to embrace Judaism. Unable to connect with that religion as an adult, however, I sought spiritual healing in other ways: the Episcopal Church, Native American spirituality, New Thought Churches, and even Wicca. All of them contributed to my spiritual healing, but no one path emerged as the only way to find Spirit. Thus, because of my eclectic journey towards spiritual healing, my methods were diverse as well. Following the Whispers traces the whispers of Spirit from when I was an eight-year-old child defying my parents’ ridicule, through the agony of losing my child, to ultimately finding spiritual healing.
From New York City to Portland, Oregon, to Albuquerque, New Mexico, I read self-help books, attended twelve-step meetings, participated in women’s consciousness raising groups, worked in individual and group therapy, and devoured spiritual texts in a multiplicity of disciplines, seeking spiritual healing. In Following the Whispers I detail the steps I took towards spiritual healing and how spiritual healing ultimately enabled me to reconnect with my son and find a life filled with inner peace and happiness.
